Organization of studies

The programme is comprised of lectures (C), extended tutorials (TD) and laboratory exercises (TP), making a total of 1800 hours for the two-year course and 960 hours for the one-year course. The tutorials comprise groups of 24 students and lab exercises are carried out in groups of 12.

670h TD
770h TP
360h C
  • TD : extended tutorials, in groups of 24 students
  • C : lectures
  • TP : lab exercises in groups of 12 with one teacher, or in groups of 24 with two teachers.

Note: In the case of project work carried out in the second year, students develop their projects in liaison with people in industry over a period of 12 to 13 weeks. During this time, the students are closely supervised by a teacher (8 students per teacher).

  • Knowledge is continually assessed and at the end of each semester the council of teachers submits their assessment for each student.
  • At the end of the 1st year the council of teachers decides whether the student is to be admitted to the second year. An overall average mark of 10/20 is required to pass.
  • At the end of the second year, at the beginning of April, students undergo a 10-week training period in industry. This work placement is subject to a written report and is defended before a jury at the end of June.
  • At the beginning of July, the teachers' council decides on whether to grant the student with the final diploma.
  • Studies normally last 2 years (for initial training) , but students are allowed to repeat one year (only) out of these 2 years.
